A million little sips.

A million little sips. That’s the way I remember the scene from a nature program I watched years ago. The scene was the African savannah after the rains. There was a lake that had formed and all the animals had a chance to drink the water. The lake shrank back as thousands each came for a drink until finally a huge flock of birds came and by miniscule degrees, their million little sips completely dried the lake.
A million little decisions deeply affect the outcome. You take the low road when you allow yourself and your team to get pulled in a bunch of different directions. You simply don’t have enough time or energy to do it all: Do the big stuff and do the important stuff. In your lists, separate tasks from goals, ideas from vision, and time from energy.
What you do each day matters. What you choose to have done and what you choose to ignore has a profound effect. A million little sips. A million little seconds. By degrees, all your decisions deeply affect the outcome.
