I attended a dinner at the all-male Adventurers’ Club in Los Angeles. There, among the boar heads and ancient canoes, was a very long list that dominated one of the walls. This long list was member John Goddard’s goal list – 127 impressive goals that he wrote when he was fifteen. Of these diverse goals he has accomplished nearly every one. Things like “Ride a horse in the Rose Parade, Watch a cremation ceremony in Bali, Swim in Lake Victoria” were all done. Desire, decision, action…done.
Decide to know what you want. Decide to narrow your focus and cut off wasteful avenues of actions. Decide to act upon your decisions. Decide to make your decision making faster. Decide something. Decide anything. Now, complete this simple sentence: I will _____.
Congratulations, you’ve begun.
